AN INTRODUCTION

I often used to hear artists and those considered the great voices of our generation repeat the phrase “inspiration can strike at any time, be prepared when it does” and scoff at this. How could something as great and important as inspiration simply just arise so quickly in front of you. To me, inspiration was a persons direct portal to their futures, careers and goals. As a 14 year old girl I wondered when this so called inspiration or desire to be, and do, would strike, until one particular night. It wasn’t an extraordinary night, it was just a night, a night like so many others, where, one could say my inspiration came alight.

On the odd night in the desert town of Badin, my friend and I sat together carrying out our daily activity of scrolling through the addictive platform of Instagram, which was most definitely the epitome of inspiration striking at any time. As we scrolled through making jokes and comments on the images we saw, one particular remark from my friend struck me. “You can Put a filter on anything and call it Art.” It was at this moment, I felt a stirring of emotions within me, the predominant emotion being, excitement. We were talking Art; my favourite subject. I told her Art can be anything you want it to be. “I could take a photograph of all my belongings, place them together and call it a self portrait!” Nothing seemed more exciting to two 14 year old girls who often attempted to fill the embedded hole of boredom that sat within them. In a large and normally empty house, we couldn’t have carried out this suggestion faster. I could never have guessed that this small insignificant event would develop into such a significant evolution of my life because it was within this very moment that my inspiration struck. My hands became glued to the small camera that seemed so large, with which I took pictures of the large home that carried endless stains of dust, my own hands, skin and body and birth within me a deep passion for photography and eventually film and media.

As I entered A levels I jumped at the opportunity to study Media Studies, and while working on my Film Opening project in my AS level, my passion for this field has only increased. This year I am extremely excited to work on my next project, for which I have chosen to create a Music Promotional Package. Please keep reading to see my journey on this new adventure!
