Our Colour Palette for the Music Promotional Package

Image
I felt that colour is a very important tool in visual story telling. And while researching for the music video, we came across something called the three colour rule. It was there I decided to use the three colour rule for our music video, and almost only used the colours red, green and brown (skin tone) for every scene. We planned to apply this to the digipak and social media as well. (60% Primary, 30% Secondary, 10% Accent), the combination of the 3 colors make up a uniform palette and add a striking thematic element to the package: creating a sense of brand identity. We created a colour palette for our film:

Meeting with Partner: Further Discussions

Image
My Partner and I met up again to sketch out some details for our project that couldn’t be communicated over the phone

Target Audience

We decided that our target audience would be anyone and everyone from age 13 onwards who would connect and let the video flow through them. Our digipak and social media age also gives a sense of minimalism yet portraying our surreal aesthetic to clearly grasp the consumers eye. Our editing style and shots are made so that one may feel the flow of time altered when experiencing the journey through the video. Lastly, we uploaded our video on YouTube which has an interactive interface where our audience could watch, share and give us their feedback. We used Instagram and WhatsApp to distribute our posters and video so that a hype could be created for the final release. This piece of art was constructed for mainly anyone and everyone except kids who might not connect with the video in a spiritual way yet still might enjoy it. For anyone and everyone wanting to connect with their inner selves. For people who experience anxiety and insomnia and mental abuse on a daily basis yet still...

Inspiration/Deciding Costumes and Makeup

Image
I planned the costumes for my actors according to my vision for the music video, I looked up inspiration on pinterest. I also discussed costumes with the band (actor and actress) and went through their closets to pick out any outfits we could use. I showed the pictures of the white dress I had envisioned to my actress to ask if she had something similar. She didn’t so I planned a shopping trip to buy such a dress.  For make up I was inspired by these looks I found online:

Receiving Response/ Online Auditions

Image
We received many messages from people that were interested in acting in our music video. I had an extensive list of questions to ask them because I wanted to make sure they would actually commit to the project. Here are a few screenshots from people reaching out to us and the discussions we had with them:  l There were issues with scheduling and time restraints so we had to let go of some people and find others:  We asked them several questions and asked to look at their pictures and portfolios to get a sense of their acting skills as real life auditions weren’t an option, I asked my actors to send a video of them reading out a script I sent them.
